Her 2022 series, “The Wardrobe” , is a masterclass in this concept. In each photo, White’s face is pristine and calm, but her arms are covered in dozens of small, zippered pouches of flesh. Each pouch is unzipped to reveal a different object: a single pearl, a doll’s eye, a scrap of a love letter, a SIM card. The series is about the things we store in our bodies—the physical weight of the non-physical.
