Critics called it “poverty porn crossed with emotional vivisection” ( The Verge , 2023). However, within the show’s logic, this scene is the logical endpoint of reality TV’s exploitation engine. The episode meta-commentates on Chris Rock’s Tamborine (2018) and Nathan Fielder’s The Rehearsal (2022), but pushes further by erasing the safety frame of “scripted comedy.”
