Inkheart tells the story of Meggie Folchart (Eliza Bennett), a young girl whose father, Mo "Silvertongue" Folchart (Brendan Fraser), has a unique gift – the ability to bring characters from books to life when he reads aloud. However, this power comes with a terrible cost: whenever a character is brought to life, someone or something from the real world is drawn into the book, never to return. Meggie's mother, Resa (Andrea Marthaler), was taken into the world of Inkheart, a fantasy world created by the villainous Capricorn (Andy Serkis), when Mo read aloud from the book.
