The Malayalam calendar, known as , is a solar-sidereal calendar traditionally followed in Kerala, India. Unlike the lunar-centric calendars of North India, the Malayalam calendar is based on the Sun’s transit through the 12 zodiac signs (Rashis). Each day in this calendar is also closely associated with the Nakshatra (star) – the lunar mansion through which the Moon transits.
