The story follows two local detectives, the intuitive but thuggish (Song Kang-ho) and his violent partner Cho Yong-koo , as they struggle to solve a series of brutal rapes and murders in a rural province. They are joined by Seo Tae-yoon , a methodical detective from Seoul whose reliance on hard evidence initially clashes with the locals' reliance on gut instinct and coerced confessions.
